People: Our People,
Our North

People management and development

We believe that the future of working relationships lies in valuing people, whom we call Our People. In our manifesto, entitled Our People, Our North, we highlight six pillars that reflect the importance of people to Norte Energia:

In December 2024, we had 425 employees on our staff, distributed between the cities of Altamira and Brasília – a reduction of approximately 10.5% compared to the previous year. This decrease is related to the organizational redesign process, aimed at optimizing and automating internal processes, promoting greater operational efficiency.

In terms of allocation by sector, the organization's employees were distributed as follows: 154 in Operations and Maintenance; 19 in the Regulatory and Trade Department; 113 in the Office of the Chairperson; and 139 in the Administrative, Financial and Investor Relations Department (GRI 2-7).

Currently, 99.04% of employees are covered by collective bargaining agreements, except for four executive officers. For those not covered by these agreements, the organization ensures compliance with current labor legislation and relies on collective agreements with other companies in the sector, establishing individual employment contracts (GRI 2-30).

Increasing the participation of women on the Board is essential for the sustainability of the business, as gender diversity is associated with better organizational performance.

These programs reflect Norte Energia's concern with the development of its employees, increasing the Company's competitiveness and the level of satisfaction of its team. The focus is on the professional development of our talents, offering training and development opportunities to improve skills and competencies.

Occupational health and safety

Norte Energia uses an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) based on NBR ISO 45001, in compliance with Regulatory Standards and the Equator Principles, focusing on reducing occupational risks associated with power generation operations and support activities (GRI 403-8). The occupational health and safety system follows the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle and involves leadership and engagement at all hierarchical levels, with active consultation with workers (GRI 403-8, EU 16).

The main requirements of the occupational health and safety system include: electronic registration of training on the Company's internal platform; certification control of mandatory training; a dashboard for monitoring training compliance with contractors; and OSH performance indicators, enabling continuous compliance monitoring, supported by an internal management platform.

The Company uses tools such as the Risk Management Program (RMP) and the Occupational Health Medical Control Program (OHMCP), with periodic review to ensure safer work environments. Activities undergo risk analysis, adopting a control hierarchy to manage potential hazards. Safety data is managed in the Integrated Management System (IMS), with safety indicators and audits based on ABNT NBR 14.280 (GRI 403-7).

Internal and external audits ensure legal compliance and corporate standards, while employee and contractor engagement strengthens safety through daily health and safety inspections and dialogues.

Strategic partnerships

Norte Energia establishes strategic partnerships with the aim of strengthening its performance in the energy sector, promoting innovation and contributing to sustainable development. These collaborations, signed with public, private and third sector institutions, aim to optimize processes, generate shared value and align with best practices in social and environmental responsibility. Through these alliances, the Company seeks to expand its positive impact, foster operational efficiency and consolidate its position as a reference in the energy market (GRI 2-28).

Supply chain management

Norte Energia maintains a structured and strategic relationship with its suppliers, led by the Supply Superintendence, linked to the Chief Administrative, Financial and Investor Relations Office. The governance of this process is guided by the Code of Conduct and Ethics and other internal regulations, ensuring that the entire supply chain is aligned with the Company's social and environmental policies.

Based on the Equator Principles and guidelines focused on climate, human rights and biodiversity, the Company adopts strict criteria for approving, selecting and contracting suppliers. The analysis weighs aspects such as tax compliance, political exposure, financial situation and integrity, aiming to prevent and mitigate social, environmental, operational and human rights-related risks.

Norte Energia ended the year with 2,579 active suppliers, making 740 new registrations, 1,953 updates and 2,350 supplier cancellations. Maintenance in the supplier base is subject to technical performance and adherence to the Company's ESG guidelines (GRI 2-6).

Norte Energia prioritizes hiring local suppliers to foster the social and economic development of the region. In 2024, service and product procurement contracts with suppliers in the state of Pará represented 34% of the Company's total expenses.

Relationship with local communities

In addition to Norte Energia's work with all stakeholders, the relationship with surrounding communities is an issue that sparks continuous and in-depth attention.

As is typically the case with large-scale projects – and as provided for in the Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA) – the construction and operation of Belo Monte HPP generates both positive impacts and social and environmental challenges. To ensure impact mitigation, the Company implements ongoing programs, permanent monitoring and transparent dialogue with local communities.

In compliance with Operating License (OL) No. 1317/2015, Norte Energia maintains social and environmental programs that include social monitoring and technical assistance to fishermen and riverside dwellers in the Volta Grande do Xingu area. These initiatives contribute to sustainable development and improving the living conditions of impacted communities (GRI 203-2).

Norte Energia's performance in relation to communities:

  • Integrated Management Plan for the Volta Grande do Xingu área;
  • Social and economic aspects monitoring program;
  • Social monitoring and follow-up;
  • Mitigation measures for regional development: Riverside dwellers and artisanal fishermen, Urban communities, Indigenous peoples, Social communication program, With Grievance mechanisms for local communities, and
  • Local development programs.
